Introduction
The objective of this Induction Pack is to give all managers with Brighouse Juniors the opportunity to have a comprehensive overview of how the club operates, who some of the key contacts are and the responsibilities required from a new manager.
It has been designed to support the managers at whatever level and however long they may have been with the club.
This is your copy to keep for reference during your long and enjoyable career with Brighouse Juniors.
Current Status - Charter Standard Development Club
Brighouse Juniors Football Club is delighted to have been awarded Charter Standard by the English Football Association
This is a development club status awarded by the English F.A. In order to gain this prestigious award, the club has demonstrated to the F.A that;
- It is well structured and organised
- Has teams of both boys and girls
- Has coaching qualifications at all levels
- Has a full child protection policy
- Has sound fund raising and social activities
- Has a strategy for future development
Importantly it has an exit route for all players to play at a senior level; this ensures the continued participation into adulthood of the sport. This currently involves having links with Brighouse Old Boys, Brighouse Town and Brighouse Ladies.
Club Development
Brighouse Juniors submitted the Following 5 year plan for developing the Club
Membership Development:
- The club are looking to operate a minimum of two teams per age group for both Girls and Boys
- All teams will be managed by adults, who as minimum will have the FA Level 1 Certificate in coaching
- All Managers and assistants will have a valid Child Protection Card, and will be up to date on Emergency Aid Certificates
- All Managers will have completed their Brighouse Juniors Induction at the start of a new season
- The Club are looking to have Coaches who have gained Higher FA Certificates to represent the different age groups. These coaches will assist Managers to improve coaching and Managers are operating within Club Guidelines
- The Club are looking to develop the current members draw into a full membership scheme. The monthly cost will include match day fees, training fees, and annual signing on fees
- The Club are looking to further establish links with local senior teams as an exit route for Boys and Girls
- The Club will seek to develop it players and increase it’s number of coaches and referees
- The Club will encourage the older players to obtain coaching qualifications funded by the club
- The Club will encourage players to obtain refereeing qualifications funded by the club
Grounds and Building Development
- The Club are looking to develop its second pitch at Broad Oak into an area for Mini Soccer games
- The club are looking to extend the current clubhouse to incorporate further facilities
- The club have recently extended and resurfaced the car parking area
- The club are looking into the feasibility of building a small Astroturf training area in between the current pitches
- Finally the club hold the lease of a third pitch I mile from the clubhouse and also hire other pitches
The next phase is to look at developing relationships with local schools in order to obtain the use of more pitch and training facilities.
Insurance
The current policy held by the club is for the following cover:
The Company will pay the benefits specified if an insured team member sustains bodily injury while:
- Playing or officiating for the club at home or away fixtures
- Playing football at the clubs premises
- Taking part in any training organised by the club
- Travelling directly or back from away fixtures as part of an organised party under the direction of the club
- Taking part in any social activity organised by the club
Kit Policy
- All teams should be playing in good quality matching kit of shirts, shorts and socks. The kit should be club colours of Yellow and Royal blue
- It is the responsibility of the managers to ensure the kit is cleaned and maintained
- If the kit needs replacing at any time the manager needs to inform the committee, where replacements will be arranged
- It is the intention of the club to ensure each team will have a new or nearly new kit every two years
- Where possible if a manager can find a sponsor then the manager can have a new kit at any point, the old kit being returned to the club
- This policy can be reviewed at any given time
Managers Duties
To actively and positively give each boy or girl the opportunity to learn and play football in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere
- To explain and encourage current and new players at all times
- To ensure codes of conduct are understood at all times
- To attend an appropriate coaching course. (FA Level 1 in coaching as a minimum)
- To ensure all training monies are collected and presented to the club
- To promote and support the clubs social activities
- To appoint a social rep for your team to attend the social reps meetings and keep the team up to date with social events/activities
- To hold raffles on match days to support club development
- To actively report teams progress through the Internet or the Website
- To report any issues to the management committee and to attend monthly managers meetings
Team selection
U7 – U9
Players should be selected in teams of mixed ability
U10
Players should begin to be streamlined into teams depending on their current playing abilities, with a view to picking teams the following season. They should also train together
U11+
Players should be picked for teams based on their current playing ability
At all times managers must be seen to working together for the benefits of the players, and within the parameters set by the club.
Managers, Players and parents must realise that their child will benefit most by playing against players of a similar standard.
No team is a closed shop, players do develop at different times and players should be given the opportunity to develop further in different teams.
Tournament Guide
- The entering of Individual tournaments is at the discretion of each Manager and Team
- It is however good experience for the players
- Whoever hosts a tournament is entitled to stipulate the rules and the numbers of players per team
- Some Tournaments are better organised than others
- Clubs can use players not registered, as long as they are the correct age
- The tournaments are meant to be fun and good experience
- Brighouse Juniors expects you to follow the Code of Conduct for players and parents at all times
General Points
- Tournaments can go on all day
- In summer in can be hot, don’t forget sun cream and sun hats!
- Find a base, so the children do not stray, and they know where to find you
- Don’t forget deckchairs, drinks, food and waterproofs!!
