BRIGHOUSE U11s - 6 NORRISTHORPE - 0

After the recent few days of wind, snow and rain the St Andrews pitch was in fine condition and this Sunday morning had blue sky and sunshine. Marvellous.
Brighouse got off to a lively start and threatened the visitors goal a few times before a super solo run from Daniel Siggins ended in the net after 6mins. More pressure followed and the physical defenders from Norristhorpe bundled Hoyle over in the box for a penalty which super cool Harry Davies slotted in wide and low, 2-0.
Throughout the match goalie Ross Barnes was confident and solid and the defence of Oakland, Pickles, Laycock and Fielden were in a mean mood to keep a clean sheet and really deserve praise. A lot of the action came in midfield with Hellawell a revelation, Garrwood passing smartly and Louis Barker not missing a header or tackle all day.
It came as no surprise when Brighouse increased their lead with a powerful strike from midfielder William Hellawell on 21mins. However, the best goal of the game came just before half time when Lee Fielden produced a lovely through ball for Jordan Hoyle to race upfield and whip in a precision cross from the right which Hellawell volleyed into the goal from two yards- awesome! 4-0.

The second half was more and more home team attacks with Merrills getting stuck in and several Brighouse players queing up to score and a few corners wasted. Shots from Tom Garrwood , Louis Barker and Harry Davies went close, and Jordan Hoyle wasn't having one of his better games but after missing a few chances in both halves composed himself enough to score twice and make it 41 goals in 18 games to help keep Brighouse top of the table with two games left.
Man of the match: William Hellawell
Goals: Hellawell 2, Hoyle 2, Siggins, Davies(pen)

Brighouse U11s - 2 v Lepton - 4 16.03.08

Strong commitment from Brighouse from the start. Lewis F puts in a great tackle and kicks ball out, resulting in the 1st corner for Brighouse. Josh takes corner and shortly after James scores the first goal for Brighouse. Keeping strong Brighouse gain possession and after a fantastic cross by Ryan, Harry scores 2nd goal for Brighouse. Back in play and Brighouse keep the pressure on, some excellent control of the ball. Well flicked on by Josh, received well by James K. Lepton gain possession but are soon tackled by Lee, producing a good cross to George, running with the ball to make an attempt at goal. Lepton gain possession and go on the attack, make an attempt, which is well saved by Aidan. Lepton gain possession again and go on to score their first goal. Brighouse ball and some fantastic teamwork seen by Sam, George and Josh. Excellent cross form Josh, leads Harry to make another attempt at goal. 2nd half and within seconds, Lepton make their second goal. Further play and Brighouse win a free kick; James K makes a good attempt, but is well saved by Lepton keeper. Lepton has possession, but Declan tackles well and crosses to George who makes another attempt. Good control seen by William and Ben and Brighouse on the attack again. Attempt made by James. Lepton gain possession and go on to score their 3rd and 4th goals in quick succession, just in the last 5 minutes of play. Well played by Brighouse, well done Lepton.

Final score 4-2

Brighouse U11s - 6 v Westend - 2

Westend kicked off on this blustery March morning wearing an all red kit and of course Brighouse were in their usual yellow and blue. The home team were soon swarming upfield looking for opportunities to shoot , and after the very good Westend keeper had dealt with shots from Louis Barker and newcomer Tom Garwood, it was Jordan Hoyle who burst down the right and drove the ball home from a wide angle to put Brighouse 1-0 up.
More home side pressure followed with a couple of corners, but it was Westend who nearly scored next ,denied by a marvellous stop from goalie Ross Barnes. Soon after Captain Joe Laycock cleared the ball from the line and Brighouse lived again to go upfield and rain shots on the busy Westend stopper. Daniel Siggins and Jordan Hoyle were both denied but a canonball strike from Max Oakland flew in the net from fully 25yds, 2-0.
More goalmouth action and a handball gave Brighouse a penalty , which was dispatched professionally by scorer Harry Davies, 3-0.
George Pickles was playing left back today and he had an excellent game, along with Lee Fielden at right back and it was rare in the first half to see where Westend could score from, but however a counter attack ended in a shot that rattled the bar.
Thomas Garwood had a drive saved before a corner was flicked on by William Hellawell to Hoyle who headed home, 4-0. Half time.
Brighouse started lively when Billie Hellawell had a run and flashed a shot across goal just wide, but the wind had increased velocity this half and much time was spent defending by Brighouse because of the difficult wind conditions blowing the ball downfield. This was highlighted by the deflected goals conceded in quick succession, 4-2..
Tigerish Louis Barker was having another great game in midfield, tackling and passing the ball intelligently and his partner Harry Davies distributed the ball with much skill, and indeed it was "H" who pushed a through ball onto Hoyle who raced upfield past two defenders to toepoke the ball through the keepers legs to steady the ship at 5-2.
A Tom Garwood free kick on the edge of the box sailed into the net to complete the scoring and Brighouse remain top of division 2 with four matches to play.
Goals: Jordan Hoyle 3, Harry Davies(pen), Max Oakland, Thomas Garwood Outstanding Players: Harry Davies and Tom Garwood.
